Market Street Spring Clean-Up
Join the Rotary Club of Mt. Carmel and Market Street MTC's Beautification team for a morning of making our main street sparkle! Let's weed the landscaping and sidewalk cracks, pick up trash, groom unruly alleyways, and plant new spring flowers. The host organizations will supply trashbags, mulch, new plants, and basic tools, but volunteers can bring spades and other tools for weeding, trash collecting tools, and a couple weedeaters and leaf blowers wouldn't hurt!
All volunteers will meet in Merchants Park at 9am, and we will divide into teams to tackle each project along the street. Coffee and donuts provided for volunteers. Thanks in advance for your help getting Market Street ready for its busy seasons!

Market Street Art Talks
Mount Carmel welcomes artist Christopher Schneberger, Assistant Professor of photography at Vincennes University, for a discussion of his work photographing rural landscapes, lonely urban spaces, and expansive narrative series. In early 2024, his series The Wanderers was on view locally at the Brubeck Arts Center, and we are pleased to have him back for this special event. The talk will be followed by an audience Q&A, and light refreshments will be served.
Christopher Schneberger is a Chicago-based photographer, educator, and curator. He received his BFA in Creative Photography from the University of Florida and his MFA in Photography at Indiana University. Exhibitions include: Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles; Dorsky Projects in New York City; Geocarto International in Hong Kong; Blank Wall Gallery in Athens; and a recent solo exhibition at the Yang Family Gallery of Indiana State University. His work is in the collections of The Art Institute of Chicago; the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Virginia; and the Mary and Leigh Block Museum in Evanston, Illinois. FAMILIES Art Opening
Families presents new and selected works on paper comprising three finite series. When working in a true series, an artist begins with a predetermined set of values; the number and subject of all pieces are established by the theme, so the challenge is crafting each individual personality while showing how all requisite parts interconnect to form the whole. The three projects within this exhibit explore themes of planetary mysticism, philosophical alchemy, and shared traits within the artist’s own immediate family.

Always And (Art Opening)
Recent work by Artist Sarah Wolfe
On view October 17 - November 14
The repeated ripples of images in a house of mirrors bounce and refract as a body moves through it. Imagery in peripheral vision blurs and quivers, much like memory when we reflect on a time or place. Nostalgia bends and distorts what we hold dear, what we believe to be true. The sculptures in Always And were born of these oil pastel works, and the oil pastels were born of connections to landscape, memory, and the liminal space that is the intersection of the two. They reflect each other while deflecting energy and declining to comment.
A native of southwestern Indiana, Sarah Wolfe has lived and studied in Savannah, GA (Savannah College of Art and Design), Bellingham, Washington, and Bloomington, Indiana. A former restaurant owner (Farmer's Daughter Bakery and Cafe in Princeton, In), she has also taught private art and cooking classes. She has exhibited her artwork in Washington, California, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. She is a member of the 2021 On-Ramp Art Cohort of the Arts Council of Indiana. She is a contributing writer to the local magazine, Life On the Wabash. When she's not covered in paint, dirt or bread dough she is tending to her family, dogs and garden. She serves on her local Historic Review Board and advises the First City Public Sculpture Committee. She volunteers with the Wabash Valley Progressives, local event planners and other social organizations.
